psalm 119:36

36 - Incline my heart
unto thine testimonies,
and not to covetousness.

Incline -- from natah, meaning "cause me to long for.  Covetousness -- from besa, meaning unjust or unlawful gain.

The pairing of opposites created by David in verse 36 is striking:  love of the Word vs. covetousness.

How startling to realize that my heart is either longing for His Word or is covetous!

Verse 36 is similar to verse 35 in that it also goes past Know and Do and forces us to Love.

Could it be that all we seek in the supernatural realm would become available to us if we lived past Know and Do and prioritized "incline my heart?"  We are so full of what we want to see and feel and know and are confused by His silence.  He longs for relationship...and that starts in His Word.

"...they sit before thee as my people,
and they will hear thy words, but they will not do them:
for with their mouth they show much love,
but their heart goeth after their covetousness."
Ezekiel 33:31
